Basement has released another song from their upcoming album ‘WIRED’, and it shows off just how varied the record is destined to be.
Titled ‘The Way I Feel’, it’s both a skate anthem and bright and breezy banger at the exact same time. From the raw riff that carries it throughout its rapid runtime to the looping vocal refrains from singer Andrew Fisher, it’s a hypnotising affair from a band that are clearly enjoying pushing against whatever you thought you would expect from them. And though it feels comfortingly familiar, it still feels like nobody else but Basement, which is an amazing thing to achieve.
Andrew had this to say about the track, explaining, “‘The Way I Feel’ is about standing on the edge of a really important decision, right before you make it. Constantly questioning whether you have the courage to stand up for yourself and fight your side, while at the same time begging for forgiveness and acknowledgement. My tongue is in my cheek quite a lot in this song – you need to decide when I’m saying what I mean or not. I love the simplicity of this song, and I love that the intro is the same audio sample that Al made on his loop pedal. I knew from the first time he sent that audio file that this would be a song.”
‘WIRED’ is set for release on May 08 via Run For Cover Records.
It will also feature ‘Broken By Design’:
