blink-182’s new track is the first to feature Mark, Tom and Travis in ten years, and it is as good as it gets.
It’s been a big week in the world of blink-182, hasn’t it?
And it is all culminating in the release of the first music from the band to feature Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker since 2012’s ‘Dogs Eating Dogs’ EP. TEN YEARS.
The song is called ‘Edging’ and feels like a culmination of all of the different sides of blink squeezed together into one undeniable piece of pop-punk joy.
Crisp chords, existential lyrics, poetic storytelling and cheeky left turns, and a chorus that is designed to be stuck in your head for weeks on end, it is just wonderful. And, as something that will resonate with everybody who wasn’t sure this day would ever arrive, hearing Mark and Tom sing over each other again is just so lovely.
Travis, who produced the track, had this to say about putting it together:
“I wanted to imagine as a listener what I wanted to experience and at the same time as a band member what we wanted to make and say and most importantly how it would sound production-wise in 2022.”
And Mark added:
“I’m so happy to be back in the studio creating new music and looking forward to a giant world tour.”
