As well as showcasing more of vocalist Rachel Aspe’s incredible clean vocals as well as her incredible gruffs and growls, it’s a song that demonstrates more of the emotional core that the band are looking to inject into their sound this time around. Though just because there is more of a melodic sentiment, it doesn’t make the thrashing riffs and debauched breakdowns any less shattering.
Rachel had this to say about the song’s themes, explaining, ““Don’t bite the hand that feeds. This song is a reference to a previous experience in a band controlled by a toxic manipulative person. It’s a reminder that bringing people down won’t elevate you. A challenging experience, but as he once said, it’s still a good memory, ça reste un bon souvenir.”Â
And she added this about the symbolic video that accompanies, saying, “The video depicts the unraveling of the protagonist’s false world, built on manipulation and control. Though he initially appears strong, his convictions are fragile, revealed by his reliance on dark spiritual guidance for reassurance. Once seeming to be the rock of this world, he is exposed as a snake. This is the collapse of a false king.”Â
The band are also set to hit the road later this year as support for Employed To Serve around the UK.
