Converge Announce 2nd New Album Of 2026, ‘Hum Of Hurt’

Converge may have only just released a new record, but they have already announced the details of a follow-up.

Titled ‘Hum Of Hurt’, the record will be released on June 05 via Epitaph. It comes hot on the heels of ‘Love Is Not Enough’ which was released back in February.

Vocalist Jacob Bannon explains how it came to be:

When we came together to write, we ended up with a wealth of material. As work progressed we realized we had created two separate albums, and treated them as such.

It’s not a sequel. The unifying musical idea early on was, ‘Let’s make a noise rock album.’ But we never really did. The first one wasn’t. This one touches on that spirit, but it’s much more dynamic than that descriptor. To me, it leans more into being an emotional hardcore album, while Love Is Not Enough feels more metal leaning album. In the end, we simply gave creative birth to another Converge record with its own unique identity and character.”

Here is how the tracklisting is looking:

1. Slip the Noose
2. Doom in Bloom
3. It Only Gets Worse
4. Detonator
5. I Won’t Let You Go
6. It’s Not Up To Us
7. Dream Debris
8. It Used to Matter
9. Hum of Hurt
10. Nothing is Over

And the artwork looks like this:

The band have also shared the title track, and it finds them toying with tension in a way only they can. Rollicking drums and quivering guitar tones build and build till they reach breaking point, as Bannon bellows and barks the sort of words that admit to life not turning out the way he expected and having to deal with those consequences. It’s a mournful, emotional listen, but no less bludgeoning and belligerent.

One of the best to ever do it is continuing their hot streak.

Jacob had this to say about the song, stating, “I’ve given 35 years of my life to creating art and music,” he says. “I appreciate the creative home and support this community has given, yet rarely is space left for anything else. These lyrics are me looking in a mirror, recognizing that I am not the man I want to be. I need change, and still have work to do.”
