After spending the last 20 years on a major label, Death Cab For Cutie have returned to their independent roots for their next chapter.
The band spent the first eight years of their career as part of an independent family, that being Barsuk Records, on which they released four EPs and four full-length albums.
It was in 2005 that they began their major-label journey, joining Atlantic and unleashing ‘Plans’, which they would spend the next 20 years with. In that time, they would release five more albums, the latest being 2022’s ‘Asphalt Meadows’.
With this move to ANTI-, the band joined a roster full of stars, including Tom Waits, MJ Lenderman, Fleet Foxes, Waxahatchee, Slow Pulp and many more.
Vocalist Ben Gibbard had this to say about the announcement, stating, ““We are thrilled to be joining the roster at ANTI- which includes some of our favourite artists, old friends and in many cases, both. We also can’t wait to begin this new chapter with the wonderful staff at ANTI- and share with you what we’ve been working on.”
