GAEREA are steaming headfirst towards the release of their new record ‘Loss’ in fantastical fashion with the release of their new single.
‘Phoenix’ is its name, and showcases how far and wide the band are looking to go with their current creations. Melodically brash, gorgeously spatial and spine-tingling and savage in all the right tones, it is an epic to say the least. Possessing all of the gripping aggression that bolstered their black metal past, whilst harnessing the brute force of modern metal in abundance, it’s a sign of special things to come.
The band had this to say about the track’s themes, stating that it “is a song about surviving betrayal and suffering, then using that pain as fuel to become stronger instead of letting it corrode you. Beaten down, scarred, and left in the dark, we rise again, break the chains, and reclaim control”
‘Loss’ is set for release on March 20 via Century Media.
Vocalist Alpha had this to say about the direction the band have gone in around this record, remarking, “I think the way we perform, the way we play, the way we dance onstage goes hand-in-hand with the way we look. We’re showing more of ourselves, exposing ourselves. We’ve unlocked that freedom where we can do whatever we want. Why would we play into the façade of being a very aggressive band with our feet on the monitors when we can just dance? We’re not about to apologize for simply being who we are.”
'Loss’ will also feature the sensational ‘Submerged’, which sounds a lot like this.
