Ghost have revealed that their cover of Pet Shop Boys’ classic track ‘It’s A Sin’ is now available on streaming platforms for the first time.
The song originally appeared as a bonus track on the band’s 2018 album ‘Prequelle’, meaning that it was the project for that era’s iteration of Papa, in this case Cardinal Copia.
That’s even more apparent thanks to the latest episode of the band’s longstanding video series, often used as a means of announcing something exciting, where the Copia basically reveals that there won’t be a new covers EP where it concerns Papa V Perpetua and the band’s latest record ‘Sketelá. “Covers EP for me, not for V,” as he so brilliantly puts it.
And in finding a loophole that allows him to release music recorded during his reign. And that is how ‘It’s A Sin’ has found its way out into the world.
So make sure to thank Cardi, and not V.
And so, to the song, and there are few better pieces of 80s synth-pop for the band to take on. Delivering all the pomp and power of the original, but with their own gripping heaviness thrown in for good measure, it is delightful. And now you can listen to it whenever you want.
Plus, the video for the song shows exactly what’s happening on Cardi’s computer, which is such a nice touch.
