Guilt Trip Unveil Crushing Three-Track EP ‘God Forgives’

Guilt Trip have surprise-dropped a new EP, accompanied by a real horror-movie of a music video.

The release is called ‘God Forgives’ and is made up of three songs that perfectly encapsulate everything that is so undeniable about their sound. Starting with ‘Dirt’, brimming with gargantuan gang chants and spinkick-ready beats, it shows off the band’s knack for squeezing some melodic tendencies within their chaotic hardcore. Haunting atmospheres and nu-metal-leaning hooks clash beautifully with such corrosive heaviness.

Then there is ‘Angel Eyes’, which is ready and waiting to pummel you into submission. Outrageously groovy and brilliantly audacious, it’s a certified pit-spinner.

It’s also joined by a new mix of their previous single ‘Burn’, which was released upon the announcement that they had signed to Roadrunner Records.

Vocalist Jay Valentine had this to say about the release, explaining, “’God Forgives’ is a culmination of progress and the embodiment of Guilt Trip’s identity, whilst consciously trying to build on the style and songwriting on ‘Severance’ we are yet embracing and moving with the sound we achieved on that record. The songs were written with one thing in mind: ‘Make it better’, and we hope we have hit the mark for every Guilt Trip fan out there.”

And that’s all before we get into the video they have crafted to accompany the one-two punch of ‘Dirt’ and ‘Angel Eyes’. A seven-minute horror movie teaming with demons, possession and religious iconography, it’s a truly discomforting watch.

Jay had this to add about it:

“It was birthed by a mix of transitioning lyrical themes into visuals and original ideas that we felt best represented the subject matter metaphorically. We wanted to show something other than just a live performance — a story that could entertain while relating to the music and still convey a message, but be open enough for the watcher to make their own interpretations.”

Get stuck in. It’s absolutely ace.

And here is ‘Burn’ to get you all caught up.
