Honey Revenge have shared a new party-starting anthem, set to appear on their upcoming album ‘Loving and Losing’.
Titled ‘Sunday Scaries’, it’s a song that places you in the middle of a rock and hard place. The difference between letting loose and not worrying about tomorrow as a means of letting go of the anxieties that tomorrow bring, it’s a situation we have all found ourselves in at some point. Set against a vibrant and glitter-speckled instrumental, it’s a perfect physical embodiment of the human psyche, of our desire to escape but knowing that it is only temporary.
It also sits nicely in the centre of the themes that the new album are centred around, a reminder that everything happens in balance and, ultimately, for a reason.
Vocalist Devin Papadol had this to say about it:
“You know when you go out partying, and wake up the next morning anxious because you can’t fully remember the night before? You have racing thoughts about the texts you wouldn’t have sent if you were sober, you’re sick from the extra drink you shouldn’t have had, and the sleep you didn’t get. In my house we call that hang-xiety, aka the Sunday Scaries. Escapism is all fun and games until it evolves into self sabotage. This song is all about that sensation I feel when I open my eyes after a bender and how I fall in and out of love with going out and being carefree. The older I get the less worth it seems but the more I need a little release.”
‘Loving and Losing’ is set for release on September 18 via Thriller Records.
