Mark Hoppus is a guest on a new podcast called Teen Beat, and if that wasn’t enough, he has also lent his musical talents to the theme song.
The podcast is an extension of the Pod Meets World, a show that brings together the stars of the 90s classic Boy Meets World. One of those stars is Dannielle Fishel, who, with the new show, will be talking to guests all about their childhoods. Growing up, school, heartbreaks and everything in between.
And so that is where Mark comes in as the first guest, where he talks about everything from his love of The Cure’s Robert Smith to turning up to high school wearing red lipstick one fateful day.
But the biggest pull is that theme song. From the classic pop-punk hooks to the jovial lyrical turns, including a rousing title drop that Mark admits was recorded as recently as New Year’s Day, it’s a perfect encapsulation of a spirit and moment in time.
