Watch: Metallica Perform ‘Lux Æterna’ Live On Jimmy Kimmel

The band will appear on the show all this week.

Metallica have kicked off a full week of shows with Jimmy Kimmel, performing the huge single ‘Lux Æterna’.

Check out the performance below:

The track is, of course, taken from the forthcoming new album ’72 Seasons’, out this Friday (April 14).

The band also sat down with Jimmy for an extended interview, talking through the album, the huge recent chart success of ‘Master Of Puppets’ thanks to ‘Stranger Things’ and their 2023 M72 world tour, which will include two nights at Download Festival this June.

On the title and concept of the record, frontman James Hetfield previously said “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
