Welcome (back) to the black parade!
Killjoys, make some noise! It’s finally happening – My Chemical Romance have announced their reunion, almost seven years since they called it a day.
After teasing on social media earlier today, setting up an official band Instagram account, and throwing the online world into CHAOS, My Chemical Romance have officially announced their return, and a show.
Posting the news on Twitter, the band shared “Like Phantoms Forever…”
They’re kicking off their monumental return with a super intimate show in Los Angeles on December 20, with tickets available tomorrow.
My Chemical Romance brought down the curtain on their 12-year career on March 23, 2013, breaking hearts with a short statement posted to their website, thanking fans for being “part of the adventure”.
This was followed up by a lengthy statement from Gerard Way, explaining the decision to disband after their final appearance at Bamboozle Festival in their homestate of New Jersey in May 2012. The statement from Gerard famously wrapped up with, “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too.
“Because it is not a band – it is an idea.”
From band, to idea, to band again. Welcome back.
