The nominations for the 2026 MOBO Awards are now out, and the Alternative world is represented by a couple of incredible bands.
In the Best Alternative Music Act category, which has been a mainstay of the awards since 2022, ALT BLK ERA and Nova Twins have both been honoured. They are facing off against Blood Orange, Hak Baker, Michael Kiwanuka and Rachel Chinuoriri.
ALT BLK ERA were actually winners of the award in 2025, too, where they beat Bob Vylan, Kid Bookie, Spider, Hak Baker and Native James. The duo released their debut album ‘Rave Immortal’ just under a year ago via Earache Records. Their new EP ‘Our World’ is set for release on May 22. This is their third consecutive nomination in this category.
Nova Twins were last nominated in the category back in 2022, in its inaugural form, alongside
Loathe, Big Joanie, Skunk Anansie, Kid Bookie and Bob Vylan, the latter winning that year. They performed at that year’s ceremony, before returning to play again last year. Their latest album ‘Parasites & Butterflies’ was released in September last year via Marshall Records.
The MOBO Awards ceremony will be taking place on March 26 at Manchester Co-op Live. Tickets for the event are available from right here.
