RØRY has just dropped the emotive new track ‘Alternative’.
The new single comes ahead of RØRY’s headline UK shows this May, as well as their debut at The Great Escape festival next month.
Have a listen via the video below.
A highly self-reflective tune, RØRY has explained that ‘Alternative’ is a reimagining of their life if they’d had a different childhood, saying openly:
“It’s making the link between my own addictions, and those of my father. How our parents give us a blueprint for love and intimacy and that my blueprint was lies, deceit, affairs, and abuse.”
“The relationship I grew up watching, led me to repeat these patterns in my own life. It was only through therapy that I was able to see the destructive pattern I was part of, and take ownership of my own behaviour.”
“The song is an ode to an alternative version of me, one that is perhaps a lot happier.”
As well as releasing great tunes in their own right, RØRY has also built up a growing reputation as a songwriter, having written for the likes of Charli XCX, NOAHFINNCE and The All-American Rejects.
As a songwriter, RØRY, whose real name is Roxanne Emery, has three top ten hits, including the multi-platinum selling ‘Post Malone’ by Sam Feldt.
