VILLANELLE are celebrating the arrival of their hotly anticipated debut EP with a delightfully introspective single.
With their first full body of work ‘Measly Means’ released today (May 06), it includes previously released tracks ‘Measly Means’, 'Hinge’ and 'Placebo’, as well as the shoegaze-infused ‘Opportunity Arising’.
Showcasing a slightly different side of the band’s 90s alt and grunge influences, it repackages all of the trio’s charm and charisma into something much more reflective. Moody and hauntingly beautiful in all the right places, it’s driven by a sweeping slide guitar, proving that the band have much more in their arsenal than just high intensity alt-rock bangers.
Speaking on the track, frontman Gene Gallagher has shared:
“’Opportunity Arising’ is one of my favourites as it shows a different side to our usual heavy riffs, branching out into a softer style of music which we love and plan to experiment further with in the future”
