YAO Share Boundary-Pushing Debut Track ‘777’

YAO, a new project from ONE OK ROCK, Awich, Paledusk and Chico Carlito, have unveiled their first track together, and demonstrated how this promises to be unlike anything else you have ever heard.

According to the band’s announcement, the project was created as a means of exploring what can happen when bands and artists from different backgrounds come together and work on something as a unit.

Even the name is derived from the idea of collaboration, the concept of “Yaoyorozu no Kami”, which means Eight Million Gods.

And their debut track ‘777’ goes in headfirst on showing what happens when streams are crossed. Kicking off with as many jubilant singalong chants as guttural howls, before bridging a gap between pop-rock catchiness and hip-hop intensity, it is exploratory from the get-go.

Though despite the plethora of different sounds and styles vying for your attention, every element feels carefully placed and cleverly constructed. Designed to get lodged in your head whilst surprise you at every turn, the first taste of this ambitious adventure is already very exciting indeed.
