K.Flay Shares Animated ‘Punisher’ Music Video

K.Flay’s new album ‘MONO’ is finally here – and with it, the arrival of a new video for ‘Punisher’.

‘MONO’ is one of the latest albums to feature on Rock Sound’s ‘Album Story’ feature, with the L.A.-based artist (real name Kristine Flaherty) breaking down the creation of the record – and how she went from sudden hearing loss in her right ear to writing one of her most personal albums to date.

Along with the album’s release today, K.Flay has shared an animated music video for ‘Punisher’, which bears some of the confessional lyricism seen across the record.

Have a watch and a listen below.

Describing the new track and its relatively ambiguous meaning, but sonic strength, K.Flay has said:

“Sometimes I love songs where there’s not a lot of mystery.

“You play it loud and it feels extremely good; it makes you feel tough and powerful – and powerful in a way that’s generative rather than oppressive, like a power plant or pedalling a bike.”

‘Punisher’ follows the release of recent single ‘Irish Goodbye’, which features Pierce the Veil’s Vic Fuentes and also features on the new ‘Mono’ LP.

Speaking about the brand-new record more broadly, K.Flay has explained:

“The title is partly a nod to the idea of mono versus stereo and that shift in my auditory experience, but mostly it’s speaking to the fact that your entire experience of this world is within you.

“You can view that as alienating, or you can view it as the natural circumstances of existence – something we all share. So when people hear the album, I’d love for them to come away with a feeling of strength in their aloneness.”

And now the album’s out, K.Flay will follow its release with a EU/UK headline tour – tickets for which can be found via the artist’s site
