Thursday have remained independent since their 2016 reunion, with the new single marking their first release without a label in 25 years.

‘Application for Release From the Dream’ was given its live debut in Albany, New York last night (April 11) before it appeared on streaming services. The song was also offered at the show’s merch table as a 7-inch single.

Ahead of its release band posted a reflective statement, celebrating 25 years of their band.

‘Application for Release From the Dream’ is available now on all streaming platforms, and you can listen to it below.

Though ‘Application for Release From the Dream’ is a standalone release, the band have confirmed that they are continuing to work on more new music, with plans to roll out songs as they record them.

Thursday are currently playing intimate club shows across Northern America, with UK/EU dates set for later this year – including an appearance at Outbreak Festival. The band is also set to perform at When We Were Young Festival in October, playing 2001’s ‘Full Collapse’ in its entirety.
