August Burns Red are gearing up for their new album ‘Death Below’, and have shared another outrageous piece of metalcore brilliance.
August Burns Red have entered their 20th year as a band and have shared a new track from their upcoming record, ‘Death Below’, to celebrate.
And based on the depth and quality of this, it’s going to be up there with a career-best.
This tune is called ‘Backfire’ and incorporates the heaviest components of the band’s sound to create something that is despondent, dark and deadly in all the right ways.
From the blackened drum fills to the absolutely crushing refrains, it is an astonishing piece of heavy music.
What a fucking incredible band they are.
They had this to say about it:
“‘Backfire’ is song that musically is a punch in the face, and we wrote the lyrics to follow suit. The song is about choosing who you follow wisely, and not allowing people you’ve never met to influence the decisions you make in life. ‘Backfire’ ticks all the boxes when it comes to an ABR song.”

‘Death Below’ will be released on March 24 via SharpTone Records.
Here is ‘Ancestry’ which also features Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach:
