Bring Me The Horizon’s Upcoming Album To Pay Homage To Emo

Oli Sykes has revealed more about what to expect from Bring Me The Horizon's upcoming album, ‘Post Human: NeX GEn’.

Bring Me The Horizon

In a recent interview with Detroit’s WRIF radio station, Oli Sykes spoke about his band’s upcoming seventh album, ‘Post Human: NeX GEn’.

The eagerly-awaited follow-up to 2020’s ‘POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR’, the new album is set for release on September 15.

When asked about the sound of the new record, Oli had this to say:

“It’s part of four EPs that we’re working on called the ‘Post Human’ series. They’ve all got their own particular sound, and this record’s definitely leaning more into the kind of bands I got obsessed with in my hardcore, post-hardcore, emo phase.”

He continues:

“My first-ever show was Linkin Park, but then I started going to straight-edge hardcore shows, punk gigs, and local shows at pubs. That’s when I got introduced to hardcore music and bands like Glassjaw and American Nightmare. This record’s definitely paying homage to that stuff, and even bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, and all of the emo stuff. It’s definitely got that feel, but we’re trying to push it in a direction that makes it feel contemporary and modern. You get the nostalgia of those years, but it feels fresh, you know?”

The news will likely come as no surprise to anyone who’s been following the band’s latest stream of singles, including a collaboration with Glassjaw‘s Daryl Palumbo on ‘AmEN!’.
