Brutus Release Soaring New Single ‘Love Won’t Hide The Ugliness’

Belgian trio Brutus have shared a new single and video for ‘Love Won’t Hide The Ugliness’.

The beautiful new tune was recorded during sessions for the band’s latest album ‘Unison Life’, which arrived last year, but was ultimately kept off the record’s final tracklisting.

Nonetheless, the band deem the single as important a component as any of the other tracks that made the final cut on the LP – and, frankly, it’s not hard to hear and understand why.

Have a listen to ‘Love Won’t Hide The Ugliness’ for yourself via the terrific Maximiliaan Dierckx-directed video below, which sees the world through a sense of childish imagination.

The video’s opening scene was shot in Belgium at the Vooruit venue in the band’s hometown of Ghent, where they have already played numerous sold-out shows.

Dierckx has also shot and directed the band’s video for ‘Liar’, which officially commenced the ‘Unison Life’ campaign last year.

Describing the new track and the band’s thoughts on it being out in the world, vocalist and drummer Stefanie Mannaerts has said:

We are very happy we can release this now, after such a crazy year on the road. ‘Love Won’t Hide The Ugliness’ has always been one of my favourite songs when we were writing the album.

“The track is about how love can cloud judgment and make it difficult to remain impartial. It can cause people to blindly follow others and lose their own sense of beauty.

“In the worst case, it can lead to self-destruction and damage relationships.”

2023 has already been an eventful year for Brutus, as they embarked on a Spring tour in support of ‘Unison Life’, which saw them play numerous venues across Europe and the US.

And they’ll be back on the road for the rest of 2023, with a European tour that includes shows in the UK, Belgium and Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

These dates will mean they’ll have played an astounding 105 shows for 2023. Check out the UK tour dates remaining for the band below – and visit their site for more information and to buy tickets.
