Empire State Bastard Release ‘The Silver Cord Sessions’ EP

Empire State Bastard have shared a new EP, ‘The Silver Cord Sessions’, featuring studio recordings of three tracks from their exceptional debut album.

The three-track project comes ahead of the Simon Neil and Mike Vennart side-project’s month-long tour as special guests for Sleep Token.

ESB, which also features bassist Naomi Macleod and drumming great Dave Lombardo, released their heavy debut LP ‘Rivers of Heresy’ in September.

Their latest EP – which was recorded at Silver Cord Studios in New York, owned by Gorija’s Joe Duplantier, who produced it – features renditions of three of its tracks: ‘Harvest’, ‘Moi?’ and ‘Stutter’.

Its release has also been paired with the release of a video showcasing the band in all their heavy glory – have a watch and a listen below.

Speaking about their ‘Rivers of Heresy’ project and the presupposed expectations for their project, Vennart told Rock Sound for our ‘The Album Story’ feature:

“I think maybe some people were hoping for Oceansize with Simon singing or vice versa.

“But the fact that it ended up like this probably isn’t actually a surprise to most people. It’s kind of what everybody hoped it would be, I like to think so anyway.

“It’s an eclectic record that does a lot of different stuff but it is all heavy as fuck.”

More recently, the band have just been nominated for two Heavy Music Awards: Best Breakthrough Album and Best Album Artwork, both for their acclaimed debut ‘Rivers of Heresy’.

Following their dates in support of Sleep Token, ESB will play Sonic Temple Festival, before they a London show as guests to The Armed and then select European festival dates.
