Listen To Empire State Bastard’s Latest Single ‘The Looming’

Empire State Bastard have shared their latest, menacing single ‘The Looming’.

The new track is the latest cut from the band’s recently-announced debut album ‘Rivers Of Heresy’, set for release September 01. 

The Empire State Bastard project, consisting of Oceansize’s Mike Vennart and Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil, previously dropped the album’s lead single ‘Harvest’ and the brutal track ‘Stutter’.

At more than six-and-a-half minutes long, ‘The Looming’ is a towering tune, building from its atmospheric start into a blistering epic. It will be the forthcoming album’s closing track.

Judging from its first three singles, the debut album from Empire State Bastard – which also involves Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and Bitch Falcon bassist Naomi Macleod – is shaping up to be a huge release.

Vennart has previously described his approach to the album, declaring rather tongue-in-cheek: “I set about making the most fucking poisonous vile music I possibly could, just unabridged hatred in musical form.” 

Simon Neil, meanwhile, added: “Lyrically, it’s as misanthropic and nihilistic as I’ve ever written.”
