Pendulum have shared their brand-new single ‘Mercy Killing’, featuring Scarlxrd.
The new track is the final single ahead of Pendulum’s ‘Anima’ EP, which arrives tomorrow (November 03).

Discussing the new single, its D’n’B credibility and how the collab came about, Pendulum’s Rob Swire has said:
“Look…Andy C and Hedex probably aren’t going to play it. That’s okay. ‘Halo’ and ‘Colourfast’ were at 174 bpm, and that’s arguably the official D’n’B tempo, so perhaps that’s good enough to prevent us from being permanently banned from drum’n’bass club forever.”
We generally get bored very easily and suffer from artistic ADHD, so when the opportunity came through to work with an artist as different as Scarlxrd, we jumped at the chance.
“We met on a chilly afternoon in March and set Ableton to a whopping 184 bpm, a tempo so shocking that we’d surely be thrown in the gulag if drum’n’bass was a totalitarian regime.
“It very quickly became clear that Scar was one of our favourite people that we’ve ever had in the studio. He’s pure energy. Nothing was off-limits. Trap verse? Let’s do it.
“Slightly-more-pop-punk-than-usual chorus? Fuck it, let’s go. Hell, at some point even ‘Be My Lover’ by La Bouche was in there somewhere and we had to delete it out of concern for public safety (and also the impending copyright issues).”
And on the rest of the tracks from the ‘Anima’ EP, he added in no uncertain terms:
“There’s also ‘Halo’ and ‘Colourfast’, but we already wrote press releases for those and you’ve got another thing coming if you think I’m going to do that shit again. [Love], Pendulum.”
