After hearing the start of Bad Omens’ new era last week via their collaborative track with Poppy, fans in Berlin were able to catch the first live performance of ‘V.A.N’ over the weekend.
The new track is a pulsating tune that revolves around the theme of artificial intelligence, with its title an acronym for ‘Violence Against Nature’.
It’s set to feature on Bad Omens’ forthcoming ‘Concrete Forever’ project, an experimental extension of their huge 2022 ‘The Death Of Peace Of Mind’ LP, and the soundtrack to their ‘Concrete Jungle’ comic book universe.
When it landed, the track was notable for not featuring vocals from Bad Omens frontman Noah Sebastian, with Poppy’s whirring voice taking centre stage.
But for fans at Berlin’s Columbiahalle venue, who got to see ‘V.A.N’ played live on Saturday, January 27, Noah was fully involved with backing vocals for the track.

With the track written and produced by Noah, of course he has had plenty to say of the new track and its dystopian sci-fi inspirations, explaining:
“That’s a song that started just with the hook ‘Violence against nature’, and then after saving the project with the acronym and seeing it we realised it could be fun to think of ‘VAN’ as a name.
“Thus the rabbit hole of ideas began that led us to decide to write lyrics from the perspective of an artificial intelligence gone rogue.”
Bad Omens – the winners of Rock Sound’s Best International Artist 2023 – recently wrapped-up an incredible arena tour of the UK, opening for Bring Me The Horizon, and will now continue their ‘Concrete Forever’ tour with support from Poppy, who, in turn, dropped her fifth studio album ‘Zig’ in November.
