The Hives Release Video For ‘The Bomb’

The Hives have shared a brand-new video for ‘The Bomb’.

The track comes from the band’s latest acclaimed album ‘The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons’, which arrived in August.

The Hives are currently deep in the midst of an intensive touring schedule, playing shows across Europe before heading out on a sold-out run of US dates later in the month.

Have a watch of the new video below, directed by Fidlar’s Brandon Schwartzel.

Discussing how it all came together, Schwartzel has jokingly said:

“Due to their extensive touring schedule we figured there were 3 options… There was cloning, which we discovered would require a 30-year delay, while the clones matured to a reasonable age. Time travel was considered as a second option.

“There was plenty of free time to shoot during the pandemic, but we decided it would be unethical to travel back to a time when Randy Fitzsimmons was still with us.

“Our third and final option was to recreate The Hives’ iconic suits and surgically remove our actors’ heads and replace them with bombs.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t have the budget for fake bombs, so this video became, not only a tribute to the great Randy Fitzsimmons, but a eulogy for the hundreds of incredible actors who gave it their all in what came to be their final performance.”

Upon the release of ‘The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons’, The Hives frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist gave us an insight into the entire record for our feature ‘The Album Story’, saying:

“We definitely didn’t want to make something that sounds mature and older.

“The thing that we had been missing in music while we were away was that exciting, childish feeling that we always loved in rock ‘n’ roll.

“It’s been a very serious time, at least for guitar bands. So we wanted it to be exciting and violent and insane and fun. Basically all the things your mum says you shouldn’t do.”
