Lambrini Girls take a look at the state of Britain on their latest single, ‘God’s Country’.
The track comes via City Slang and follows the release of the band’s debut EP ‘You’re Welcome’, which dropped in May last year.
It’s a track that only adds, lyrically and sonically, to their reputation as a thrilling, fearless new voice in the scene, making it little wonder why Iggy Pop’s a fan.
It arrives with an equally unabashed video, filmed in part outside Buckingham Palace, with stark figures about the UK flashing across the screen.

Speaking about the track, which was produced by Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox (and fuelled by Christmas lights and Guinness during recording in December), the band have said:
“‘God’s Country’ is our long, overdue call-out of the government and rise of the far right.
“We wrote this a few months back, when the political landscape had evidently reached a global boiling point. Great Britain. Think colonial, shit-hole, chunk of land.
“Thriving off unhinged nationalism, fed to us by the right red hand of unelected prime ministers. Despite this, we have the audacity to call our country ‘Great’. So we ask you, ‘Are you sure?’
“We could deep dive into inspirations and influences – but the song’s about politics, not us. We hope the song speaks for itself. Rishi, Cameron, Cummings, Starmer – you’re all on our shit list.”
Teasing the track in the band’s recent interview with Rock Sound, Lambrini Girl’s vocalist and guitarist Phoebe said:
“Arguably, the next little nugget of music you might hear is one of our most political songs.
“From a musical standpoint, it’s still catchy and fun, still a laugh, still very tongue-in-cheek. Just us but better!”
