Twenty One Pilots Drop New Single ‘Backslide’ With Josh Dun-Directed Video

Twenty One Pilots have unveiled the next taste of their new album ‘Clancy’ with latest single ‘Backslide’.

The laid back hip-hop track is the third to be taken from the record following previous releases ‘Overcompensate’ and ‘Next Semester’. This latest music video is also directed by drummer Josh Dun, making his debut behind the camera, and is packed full of references to past releases from the band.

Check it out below:

Earlier this week, in a message to fans, frontman Tyler Joseph confirmed that the album’s release would be moving back a week to May 24 in order to allow them to make a music video for every song on the record.

He said “When I first told Josh [Dun] and Mark [Eshleman] and everyone on our team that I wanted to do a music video for every song on the album ‘Clancy’ that’s coming up, I told them it’s because I love these songs and I believe in them enough to pretend to sing in front of a camera to each one.

“And that’s what we’re going to do, because that’s how I want to present this album.

“But because of that, in order to accomplish that, we need a little bit more time – that’s why I’m making this video. We’re going to push the album back by one week, to May 24th.

“Isn’t that exciting? Just a little more time. Just a little, little more time.”

Twenty One Pilots were recently named Rock Sound 25 Icons, in celebration of Rock Sound’s 25th anniversary, and spoke to us in an exclusive magazine edition.
