The new track and announcement arrives after the goth-grunge band’s biggest headline performance to date – at Leeds’ The Brudenell Social Club – as well as their ‘Divine’ single at the start of the year.

Recorded by Sugar House and mixed and mastered by Grammy-nominated Romesh Dodangoda (whose credits include Bring Me The Horizon and Nova Twins), the track encompasses their riot grrrl influences.

Have a listen to the track via the video below, which comes via the band’s longtime collaborator Misha Warren.

Describing the new track and what it’s about, lead singer GK has shared:

“‘Bloodsick’ describes a change, or a metamorphosis of a being that has become far more insular and isolated.

“It is a grief of what once was, that transcends into a bittersweet liberation of a new body, or way of living both physically and emotionally.”

And as well as new music, VENUS GRRLS have announced details of their first-ever headline tour, taking place across the UK.

For the 8-date run of shows, the band have partnered with stem cell transplant charity Anthony Nolan, reflecting the band’s own experience with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

Anthony Nolan uses its register of 900,000 people to match potential stem cell donors to blood cancer and blood disorder patients in need of stem cell transplants.

All shows on the 8-date run will have Anthony Nolan volunteers present to provide more information about stem cells, their role in treating AML via transplant and the importance of people aged 16-30 signing up to the stem cell register.

Speaking about the initiative Charlotte Cunliffe, Director of Register Development at Anthony Nolan has said:

“When people in the public eye, like GK, share their experiences, it inspires others to seek out how they can help which is why we’re thrilled VENUS GRRRLS will be encouraging their fans to learn more about stem cell donation on tour.”
