Skiba is currently gearing up for the release of a forthcoming Alkaline Trio album, ‘Blood, Hair And Eyeballs’, which arrives January 26.

As well as discussing the making of the new record in-depth on the Tuna on Toast with Stryker podcast, Skiba also looked back on his seven years with Blink-182.

Skiba was part of the band between 2015 and 2022 and is featured on Blink records ‘California’ (released in 2016) and ‘Nine’ (released in 2019).

Speaking on the podcast about his time with Blink and referencing their excellent new record ‘One More Time…’, Skiba said:

“I’m so grateful for my time with them. I was just talking to Mark [Hoppus] yesterday, just checking-in. We’re all still great friends.

“I talked to Travis [Barker] last week… listening to the new Blink record and I was like, ‘Dude, you played a fucking double-kick, what the hell’… it’s killer, I love the new Blink record.

“It ran its course. When those guys first asked me to join the band, I thought they were on acid thinking that that was gonna fly – and it did somehow… And a lot of people were buying the records and responding really positively to it.

But I remember at the time I said to Mark, ‘Well, eventually Tom [DeLonge’s] going to come back, right?’ And Mark was like – I don’t think it’s any secret he was pretty hurt and upset. But I think somewhere he had to know that that was true.

“So for me I feel like the timing was perfect. I think everyone’s glad that Tom’s back, but I’m really thankful for those guys and I’m proud of the work that we did.”

Last year saw the return of the most well-known and recognisable Blink lineup – with Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker – in unbelievable style. As well as the band’s ninth studio album ‘One More Time’, they also headlined Coachella, had their most successful tour, and made a triumphant return to the UK.

They will return to the UK later this year for a series of live dates including a headline slot at Reading & Leeds Festival.
