Outbreak Festival has announced American Football as their Sunday headliner, where they’ll be playing their seminal self-titled album in full.
The Manchester-based festival will be taking place at the 7,500-capacity Bowlers Exhibition Centre from June 28 to 30, and had already previously announced a number of stellar names to celebrate its 13th edition.
Action Bronson was announced as a headliner two weeks ago, with Basement, Show Me The Body and Hot Mulligan.
The Friday will also kick things off with sets from JPEGMAFIA, hip-hop group Flatbush Zombies and experimental rock duo The Garden.
And demonstrating the festival’s eclectic mix and a wide variety of acts, Saturday will see the likes of Soccer Mommy, Show Me The Body, Angel Du$t, Mannequin Pussy, Movements, Incendiary and more take to the stages.
And now emo icons American Football will be making a special appearance too, celebrating 25 years since the release of their self-titled debut.
The ‘American Football’ LP is one of the most lauded emo and math rock albums of its time, and has remained an inspiration for many bands and artists since its release in 1999.
Last year, it emerged the band had bought the iconic house seen on the front cover of the album.
American Football’s playing of it in full adds to the sense of nostalgia set to take place throughout the whole of Outbreak Festival, with other acts due to celebrate their seminal works there too.
Joyce Manor will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of ‘Never Hungover Again’; Nothing will perform 2014’s ‘Guilty Of Everything’, The Hotelier will shine a spotlight on a decade of ‘Home, Like Noplace Is There’, and post-hardcore legends Thursday will perform a set comprised of tracks from two of their most celebrated works, ‘War All The Time’ and ‘Full Collapse’.
