Meet Me @ The Altar have taken on a cover of Freaky Friday track ‘Take Me Away’ and made it completely their own.

The new track will be on the digital deluxe version of the band’s debut ‘Past // Present // Future’ album, which they announced last month alongside the release of new track ‘Give It Up’.

The deluxe LP, which includes four new tracks in total, is set to arrive September 29.

Have a listen to the band’s cover of the track from the iconic 2000s film below.

Describing why they wanted to rework ‘Take Me Away’ in particular, Meet Me @ The Altar have said:

Aside from it just being an absolutely iconic moment in pop culture, Take Me Away, Pink Slip, and Freaky Friday as a whole had a lot of influence over us growing up.

“It’s everything we love all meshed into one – female representation in punk music, and on screen!

“Being able to pay homage to such an endless well of inspiration to us was really gratifying. It really takes you back to an era that I think we all miss.”

Meet Me @ The Altar recently concluded their second North American headline tour in support of ‘Past // Present // Future’, with the deluxe version of the LP now available for pre-order.

They’ll soon be hitting the road across North America again in support of 5 Seconds of Summer North American arena tour.

And if that wasn’t enough, the band are showing their incredible work ethic with a headline tour of Europe in October – a full list of dates for which can be found here.
