Royal Blood Are On Course For Their Fourth Consecutive Number 1 Album

Royal Blood are closing-in on securing their fourth consecutive UK Number 1 album, whilst Empire State Bastard are in the Top 10, midweek data from The Official Charts Company has revealed.

Royal Blood

Royal Blood, the Worthing-formed rock duo comprised of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, released their latest album ‘Back To The Water Below’ on Friday, September 01.

The album is currently outselling its closest competition – the 10th anniversary special of The 1975’s self-titled debut album – by approximately 2:1.

Were it to maintain its status at the top come the end of the week, ‘Back To The Water Below’ would join Royal Blood’s previous chart-toppers: their self-titled debut released in 2014, 2017’s ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ and 2021’s ‘Typhoons’.

This would of course give them the notable accolade of having achieved a UK Number 1 album with all of their albums released to date.

Elsewhere in the charts, Empire State Bastard – the side-project of Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil and Oceansize’s Mike Vennart – currently have their debut ‘Rivers Of Heresy’ album sitting in at No.7.

The heavy LP is the latest to be explored in Rock Sound’s ‘The Album Story’ feature, with both Simon and Mike discussing all aspects of its creation.

Plus, we’ve teamed up with the band to produce this exclusive t-shirt design you won’t find anywhere else.
